the popi act

what it does and how it affects you?

The Protection of Personal Information Act, or POPI, establishes a number of minimum requirements that businesses and other organisations must comply with when dealing with people’s personal information. These include having to implement measures and procedures within in an organisation to secure that information.

These new requirements apply to every single entity in the country that processes any personal information, and naturally this includes ALL businesses.

The Act came into effect on 1 July this year and introduces fines of up to R 10 million for non-compliance! Thus, becoming compliant with the Act should be a top priority for your business this year.

Please contact us for more detailed information and to find out how you can become compliant.
